Installation of the Countershaft
These pictures show the installation of the "countershaft" and "little cog wheel," which together will power the third set of millstones. You see the countershaft being pulled in through a basement window, and in position, then Gus Kiorpes cutting mortices through the shaft, a shot of the arms that go through the mortices, the cog wheel installed, the maplewood cogs being inserted, and finally the finished cog wheel.
